1. Thames Path Riverside Stroll (Tadpole Bridge to Rushey Lock and Back)
Start/End Point: The Trout at Tadpole Bridge
Directions: Step out of the pub and join the Thames Path National Trail heading west along the riverbank. Follow the riverside footpath through grazing meadows and tall willows — you’ll pass beautiful waterside scenery and may spot kingfishers or other river birds. Turn around at Rushey Lock or another favourite point you choose and retrace your steps back to the pub.
Estimated Time & Difficulty: ~1–2 hours, easy.
Highlight: Classic river walking along the Thames with gentle terrain — perfect for a relaxed dog walk with plenty of fresh air and waterside views.
2. Tadpole Bridge to Newbridge Out & Back (Riverside Adventure)
Start/End Point: The Trout at Tadpole Bridge
Directions: From the pub, follow the Thames Path east toward Newbridge. This longer route keeps close to the river and takes you past Ten Foot Bridge and Shifford Lock, all the way to historic Newbridge — one of the oldest surviving Thames crossings. You can turn at Newbridge and head back along the same scenic river path to return.
Estimated Time & Difficulty: ~3–4 hours (depending how far you go), easy‑moderate.
Highlight: Riverside walking with historic bridges and open waterside meadows — excellent for dogs who enjoy longer outings.
3. Tadpole Bridge & Bampton Village Loop
Start/End Point: The Trout at Tadpole Bridge
Directions: Head west from the pub across Tadpole Bridge and then pick up footpaths heading north toward Bampton village. Wander through quiet lanes and field paths before looping back along connecting bridleways toward the river and returning to The Trout. This gives a mix of waterside and countryside walking for more variety.
