Attractions In West Sussex & The South Downs

The Royal Oak lies in East Lavant – a classic Sussex downland village, complete with flint-walled thatched cottages and a 13th century church, at the foot of the South Downs. We’re an ideal base if you’re attending The Festival of Speed, Goodwood Revival and Glorious Goodwood events at Goodwood, which is less than ten minutes from us and is known as England’s greatest sporting estate.

Also just ten minutes away is the ancient city of Chichester; home to one of Britain’s most glorious medieval cathedrals, and the world-class Chichester Festival Theatre. If you are wanting to explore the countryside, then the South Downs National Park has world-class walking and cycling trails which covers some of the most breathtaking scenery Britain has to offer.

However you choose to spend your time in this beautiful part of the world, we’ll have great food and wine, convivial company and a snug, comfortable room waiting for you here at The Royal Oak.
