We make every effort to incorporate local ingredients into all of our dishes whenever possible.

At The Old House, we aim to create a welcoming and familiar atmosphere during your stay. Our guest bedrooms are located in a converted barn affectionately known as ‘The Coop,’ offering picturesque views of our mature garden. These six ensuite rooms are named after British chicken breeds and feature tasteful decor that includes natural textures and earthy hues. You’ll also find modern furnishings and charming original elements in each room.

 

A BRIEF HISTORY

Dating back to the 16th century, Wakehurst Place boasts a rich history that has witnessed centuries of transformations. Originally owned by Sir Edward Culpeper, the estate has seen various owners and changes over the years. In 1965, it became a part of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, cementing its status as a haven for plant enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

As you exit, turn left onto Selsfield Rd/B2028

At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto North St/B2028
Continue to follow B2028 for approximately two and a half miles

At Dukes Head Roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Turners Hill Rd/B2028
Continue to follow B2028

At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Effingham Rd/B2037
Take Selsfield Road and B2028 to Effingham Road/B2037 in Copthorne. The Old House will be on your left.
