Our Review in The Times

“A boutique spin on a bucolic spot”

“A true escape to the English countryside”

“Stylish, welcoming and full of rural charm”

We’re thrilled to share a recent review in The Times that beautifully captures the charm of the King John Inn. The review celebrates our stunning setting in the heart of Cranborne Chase, surrounded by rolling hills, historic cottages and timeless English village scenes.

We’re especially proud of the kind words about our cosy, character-filled rooms, which were praised for their “peaceful interiors,” “lovely views,” and “homely feel.” Our thoughtful touches, from local Bramley toiletries to quirky bedside books, didn’t go unnoticed!

In the dining room and gardens, our team was described as “charming,” and the food as “relaxed, hearty, and full of flavour,” with highlights including our seasonal and locally-sourced produce and a standout breakfast!

The review also shone a light on our beautiful location, awarding it an impressive 9/10 for its access to nature walks, nearby Larmer Tree Gardens, and the historic town of Shaftesbury.

We’re so grateful for this wonderful recognition, and even more grateful to our guests for continuing to make the King John Inn such a special place. Whether you’re here for a weekend retreat, a countryside stroll or simply a pint in the garden, we’re always delighted to welcome you.
