Welcome to The George Inn, Norton St Philip

Having recently undergone a full makeover and preservation project, The George offers beautiful decor and furnishings alongside many original features and antiques from the inn's fascinating past and was recently awarded Pub of the Year 2024. With a history dating back to 1397, The George is one of Britain’s oldest taverns, offering 13 charming newly decorated ensuite bedrooms - the perfect base to explore the village, Bath and the Somerset surroundings.

The George is an historic 14th-century Grade I listed Tudor inn, located in the heart of Norton St. Philip, near Bath.

Recent winners of The 2024 Pub of the Year, we pride ourselves on providing the best service and food. On the menu, our focus is seasonal, locally sourced produce and exciting takes on pub classics, with a cracking selection of award-winning Butcombe beer behind the bar. We’re also very proud of our Head Chef Aimie Harley, who was voted Salon Culinaire Pub Chef of the Year 2024.

Outside you can relax and unwind in our beautiful beer garden, with spectacular views across Norton St Philip and the surrounding countryside.

We happily cater for groups large and small, and our private dining rooms are available for parties, events and meetings – truly unique spaces for the most memorable occasions!
