** TEMPORARY CLOSURE – REOPENING EARLY NOVEMBER **
The George is closed until early November for essential improvement work and some careful restoration. Rest assured, as a Grade I-listed building all work will remain in keeping with the history of our beautiful inn, and we can’t wait to show you what we have planned.
Our sister pub The Fleur de Lys and accommodation at The Plaine remain open throughout the closure.

The George is an historic 14th-century Grade I listed Tudor inn, located in the heart of Norton St. Philip, near Bath.
With a history dating back to 1397, The George is one of Britain’s oldest taverns, offering 13 charming ensuite bedrooms full of original features and the perfect base to explore the village, Bath and the Somerset surroundings.
On the menu, our focus is seasonal, locally sourced produce and exciting takes on pub classics, with a cracking selection of award-winning Butcombe beer behind the bar.
Outside you can relax and unwind in our beautiful beer garden, with spectacular views across Norton St Philip and the surrounding countryside.
We happily cater for groups large and small, and our private dining room The Dungeon is available for parties, events and meetings – a truly unique space!
