A Historical Gem
St. Luke’s Church was consecrated in 1824, a period when Chelsea was transitioning from a rural village to a bustling urban area. Designed by the celebrated architect James Savage, the church is a prime example of Gothic Revival architecture, characterised by its pointed arches, intricate stone carvings, and impressive stained glass windows. The spire, soaring 142 feet into the sky, was once the tallest in London, symbolising the church’s prominence and its enduring reach towards the heavens.
