The Royal Academy of Arts was founded in 1768 by a group of prominent artists and architects, including Sir Joshua Reynolds, its first president. The institution was established with a clear mission: to promote the arts of design through education and exhibition. Over the centuries, the RA has maintained its commitment to nurturing artistic talent and providing a platform for both established and emerging artists.
Housed in the magnificent Burlington House on Piccadilly, the RA’s architecture is as inspiring as the art within its walls. Burlington House, a grand Palladian mansion, provides a fitting backdrop for the institution’s extensive collection and exhibitions.
