Open Mic Survey

We recently ran our first ‘Open Mic’ survey and received the highest levels of participation and engagement from our teams across the business for an internal survey to date.

Our Open Mic survey is just one of the ways we hear directly from our team. Their feedback helps us shape our employee offer and workplace culture. Previous things we have done from Surveys and Forums include enhancements to team discount on food and drink, improved mental health training and support.

We were really pleased to be rated as “excellent” in our wellbeing score, this was +20% higher than our industry and global averages. The highest scoring areas were job satisfaction and relationships between teams and their manager. Creating a safe and inclusive environment is a priority for us and are really proud to see we scored 87% engagement in this area.

On the back of our teams feedback we will be launching even more training programmes to meet the development opportunities our teams have highlighted as well as enhancing some new recognition tools and enhancing key benefits such as maternity pay.

One new policy we are launching is our Returnity Leave policy because of the feedback. This is aimed at supporting our teams who have found themselves needing to take time out of the workplace for an extended period of time, or for a life impacting reason, whether that’s parental leave, bereavement, health issues, carer needs or even a sabbatical. We often focus on what happens when people are out of the business and this flips it on the head ensuring we have the focus on their return also, which can sometimes be the most overwhelming or challenging part. Our team told us their ability to connect with each other and feeling supported and cared for were two of the most important factors in what they love about our culture. Having a policy that combines the two is a great benefit to all of us and showcases how we live our ‘From the Heart’ and ‘Raise the Spirits’ values.
